There is a plastic bag around its head,
a yellow-taped noose rests on its neck,
a tarnished bronze carted off to a scrap metal
graveyard, joining the souls of the others
who keep silent.
And hovering over is the saddness
of families and fans
who were also betrayed by those they once
trusted and loved.
There are words and laws now for
this crime of power and greed,
festering unrehabilitatable.
From a dark plain where victims once lay in silence,
we are silent no more.
