Just Being Here - 100 Reasons I Love Peekskill - Post 86

Just Being Here. I got back from China a few weeks ago and jumped right back into my work routine. It took a little longer for me to feel that I was back in my hometown life. But now I am, and I'm appreciating Peekskill in all its summer glory. The BID flower planters are gorgeous this year, as are the young people in caps & gowns scurrying by on North Division Street. As I took out my garbage this morning, a worker from the Quiet Man was already setting up tables and umbrellas for today's al fresco lunch crowd. In the early morning, Division Street is shady, cool and quiet. The train horns sound from down the hill as I go about my daily business, always meeting and greeting people on the street - Peekskill artists and local business owners, many of whom are also HVGCC and Rotary friends, as well as strangers, who in our friendly town, always have a ready "Hello!" Now that I've lived here for a while, it's easy to take this all for granted, so sometimes it's good to go away - and come back.
