A Day Off!! It's 9am Saturday - post snowstorm. There's about a foot of snow on my terrace, and my car is unrecognizable. I've been watching the plows, snowshovelers and snowblowers on Bank Street, which is completely passable. The Center Diner is open. I see people walking around. We didn't seem to get the worst of it here.
I have a sudden, unexpected day off! Everything I was scheduled to do today has been canceled. Now that I have this free, unstructured day, I suddenly realize how much I need it. I've been working too hard.
First, I'm allowing myself a lazy morning before heading out for some winter fun. Since digging my car out doesn't sound that fun, I'll start with looking for my cross country ski boots. (At least I know where the poles and skis are.) I didn't get a chance to ski downtown Peekskill last winter, but I did it a couple of times two winters ago. I got a lot of looks, waves and good natured wisecracks. But again, if the ski boots hunt starts not being fun, I'll just bundle up and head out to build a snowman. Or...
I just had a crazy idea. Maybe I'll call some Peekskill artist friends and see if they'd like to join me for some impromptu public snow art. Hmmmm...
The sun just came out. Happy snow day!
