Picking up the Ribs and Putting Down the Cigarettes!

HVHCs Employee Appreciation Picnic and Smoking Cessation Agenda!

Today was a great day at Hudson Valley Hospital Center!  Every year we have a picnic to honor our employees and show them how much we appreciate all they do.  This year we had a western theme.  Like many of my leadership colleagues, I dressed up in my western attire and helped to serve all the hospital’s wonderful employees.   It was nice to honor our VIPs (Very Important Personnel).

We enjoyed the beautiful sunny day and plentiful buffet, which had everything from hamburgers to ice cream. Several of the employees stepped up to the microphone and shared their vocal talents providing the rest of us with delightful live music.  In conjunction with the picnic we had a denim day event where we allowed each employee to wear jeans in exchange for a donation of $5.00, which will go toward Tobacco Cessation Programs.

A table dedicated to Smoking Cessation was also set up.  I collected countless documents that covered various Smoking Cessation educational materials, programs, methods, aids and even a personalized plan to help someone quit smoking. This is a cause dear to my heart because my father is presently suffering the ill effects of many decades of smoking.  It was the perfect day for finding out various ways to put down the cigarettes while picking up the ribs! If my daddy can quit smoking (and he did) so can you or someone you love!
