Once Upon An Anniversary...

And so the story goes, Once Upon A Time there were two women with a dream. The dream was to own a business; not for any of the reasons you might suspect, but rather to make a difference – a difference in the lives of the children with whom they are entrusted on a daily basis. These children and families are the tellers of our story, as is seen by the wall inside the school that showcases the handprints and footprints of our students. All fairy tales come with fairies, goblins, giants and magic, and might I say that within this very short year, we have experienced them all.

Wikipedia describes a fairytale as a story blessed with, above all else, unusual happiness. The magic of that happiness is the epitome of our experiences over the past year here at Once Upon a Time.

These blessings have come to us in many forms. We are thankful for the families who believe in us and allow us the pleasure of caring for their children every day. We are always thrilled to think of our family and friends, with their never-ending support and love. And we see these blessings in the new bonds and friendships that have been created through unexpected crossings of paths. We have been challenged by them, motivated by them and enlightened by them all in an effort to cultivate our personal growth and to see us through to chapter two of our fairytale.

These days of celebration are more about the people who have shown their support for our dream come true. So I would like to thank all of you for sharing in this special occasion, and I would especially like to thank our families, friends, and colleagues who have made this possible. This has been a magical beginning to our journey, and we sincerely hope to see all of you through to our happily ever after.

A special thanks to Mike and Gail Bennett of the famous Hudson Valley Llamas; Rachel Ann of Wild Tree, for supplying taste sensations; Carolyn Josephs of New York Sports Club, for the raffle and cotton candy machine; Mike Adamovich of Tea Temptations, for his infamous scones; Ann Malcolmson of Mutual of Omaha, for the child ID fingerprinting and Christine and Jessica of Dance Expressions, for the dance demonstration.
