Stella is happiest when she is riding around the streets of Peekskill. She loves seeing the big smiles cross people’s faces when they hear Stella's bell ring. And, of course, she loves the Marlon Brando “Stella” imitations. So June has been a very happy month for Stella.
It started off with Open Studios 2012 where Stella shuttled art lovers around
On June 16th, Stella was again privileged to participate in the Juneteenth
Parade, and then she transported some folks between the riverfront and downtown. We stopped to pick up a woman who looked like she was going to pass out from the heat. After we gave her a bottle of water she told us a tale about being the hydrating assistant for a mascot who was marching in the parade. Apparently the mascot preferred to hydrate at a local watering hole rather than drink the water she was carrying. Bad Bear!
This past weekend however was the most eclectic and fun so far. It all started on
Friday when Stella picked up a group of retiring teachers from their school's
campus. They received a splendid sendoff from the crowd of teachers and other
school workers who all seemed a bit envious of the group as the Alice Cooper
song "School's Out (forever)” blared over Stella's loud speakers and the
group rode off into the afternoon sun. After a stop at a watering hole near the
school, the group did a pub crawl through Peekskill. Just in case you were
wondering, they were all dropped off at a house in Peekskill so no one was driving. A great time was had by all.
Stella then got a little rest, a cleanup and she was ready for the evening's
festivities. This trip was a private historic tour of Peekskill and going away
party for a nun who was traded. Yes, that is what I said, a nun who was traded
to another parish. This was the first "sunset" tour we have done and the Peekskill waterfront did not disappoint. All but one of the people aboard were
out-of-towners, and Stella was pleased to hear all the nice things they were
saying about Peekskill.
The weekend ended on a funny note with the "Patty and Patty Comedy Tour." The laughs started before the doors even closed as the two middle aged Italian broads came running down the street schlepping big bags and yelling for us not to leave
without them. It soon turned into “comedy karaoke” with many people joining the
repartee. The tour concluded with some Italian cheeses and appetizers at a wine tasting at Dylan's Wine Cellar. Stella thanks the actresses, Marilyn Matarrese
and Anita Salvate for a fun afternoon.
