Statement from Rye Town Supervisor and Congressional Candidate Joe Carvin on Nita Lowey's Attack Today
September 20, 2012
"The people of this country have a choice whether to pursue Ms.
Lowey's philosophy of more spending and borrowing or mine, which would
would involve fundamental reform aimed at reducing our unsustainable
debt burden and reforming our entitlement programs to save them for
the next generation.
Ms. Lowey has been in Congress 24 years and we have ended up right
where we are, with a real unemployment rate of 19%, a shrinking middle
class, and an insolvent nation hurdling towards bankruptcy because of
her wrong headed policies. If we continue down that path, we will
become another Greece in very short order and the most vulnerable of
our citizens -- yes, that 47% -- will have neither jobs nor a social
safety net. That is what this election is about for the voters of Westchester and Rockland counties."
