New York--June 18
Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Bob Turner (R-NY-9) today strongly endorsed Westchester businessman and Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin (R) for Congress in next Tuesday's primary in New York's 17th Congressional District (Westchester-Rockland.)
Congressman Turner, a U. S. Army veteran and one of the nation's strongest defenders of Israel, also urged Westchester and Rockland voters to "make the clearest statement possible against genuine extremism" by supporting Mr. Carvin over his rival candidate, Jim Russell, who has been categorically disavowed by Republican and Conservative leaders for what has widely been deemed White Separatist and anti-Semitic views.
"Westchester and Rockland Republicans have an opportunity to accomplish two things next Tuesday: nominate a superb Republican town supervisor in Joe Carvin for Congress and make the strongest possible statement against genuine extremism," Congressman Turner said. "Joe Carvin is a committed fiscal conservative who has reduced spending by 25% as a town supervisor and cut taxes every year he has been in office. His opponent, meanwhile, has been widely deemed to live far outside the mainstream of American politics."
Mr. Russell has reportedly attended White Separatist rallies and he has published many controversial writings, for example: "...parents need to be reminded that they have a natural obligation, as essential as providing food and shelter, to instill in their children an acceptance of appropriate ethnic boundaries for socialization and for marriage."
"I urge Rockland and Westchester Republicans to make a special trip to the polls next Tuesday to pull the lever for Joe Carvin for Congress. In doing so, they will be sending a clear message that genuine political extremism has no place in American politics," Congressman Turner continued.
