It was an extremely cold November morning on Veteran’s Day, and dedicated members of the Peekskill High School Band and Veterans had a ceremony honoring those who have risked their lives to protect our country. While there, the band played the following songs: “Star Spangled Banner,” “Salute to Armed Forces,” and “You’re a Grand Old Flag.”

There was also a good bag pipe performance by Mr. Brady. In addition to the music, there were speeches made about trying to keep Veteran hospitals open so that when the soldiers return from war, they can receive the proper medical treatment they need. The speakers were also trying to persuade the young people to try to volunteer at Veterans’ hospitals since the extra help is needed. After the ceremony, the band students went to lunch at the Legion Hall for some good food, like hot dogs and those huge Italian sandwiches. They were also able to talk to the veterans about their experiences. Overall not only was the ceremony informative about the Veterans’ hospitals, also some good music was played by the Peekskill High School Band.
