Good morning, I've just read this blog and I must tell you that we represent the Westchester Fashion Academy for Children in White Plains NY . I'd like to say as a mom and as the director of camp"Fashion Extravaganza" our program boasts of having a multi purpose. Westchester Fashion Academy for Children has skilled professionals that love the art of fashion as well as being able to share this passion with children 6-17 years of age. We wrap the art part of drawing, pattern making and sewing around Math,Science, Social Studies, and English! The children do not realize that not only are they learning how to render their ideas, but learning or reinforcing basic fundamentals. Ex; When they measure and make patterns they must work with the numbers Math, Social Studies comes in when they are introduced to several different cultures, their lifestyles and the clothing they where. When the children study the fabrics and its contents thus our Science component sneaks in and our English is represented once the little designers create their ideas and have to write and discuss their choices! They learn to respect each others work and reinforce working as team players. The designers have a great time, make new friends and walk away with a renewed sense of their jewels within! Everyone should experience what we've been dubbed as "The Happy Place!" Westchester Fashion Academy for Children, www.wfac4children.com 914-428-1047

If you're sending a child to camp in PA, make sure the water is safe to drink! I spent two summers working at a camp in Bradford County PA that is now ground zero for fracking. The camp owner signed a lease with a gas company and has not informed parents about the fact that there is a gas fracking well nearby. Do your homework, ask questions and insist on recent water quality reports.
