Compare Peekskill Tap Water if You're in White Plains May 6

10 waterworks will compete for bragging rights as Westchester’s best water on Tuesday.

It's the annual blind taste test, hosted by the Westchester County Health Department as part of National Drinking Water Week. 

It will take place in front of the Michaelian Office Building, 148 Martine Ave., White Plains, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. If it rains, the taste test will be postponed to May 7.

“It’s not easy to choose just one because they all taste good,” said County Executive Robert P. Astorino. “Make sure to work up a thirst before you stop by.” 

The participating water suppliers in this year’s competition are: Bedford Consolidated Water District, Village of Elmsford, Greenburgh Consolidated Water District #1, Village of Ossining, City of Peekskill, Village of Scarsdale, United Water New Rochelle, City of White Plains and City of Yonkers and the defending 2013 champion, the City of Mount Vernon.

The health department will announce the winner—and reveal which water was which—via Twitter @wchealthdept and on Facebook.com/wchealthdept.

The Westchester winner will advance to the regional competition. The winners of the regional competitions statewide will ultimately compete at the New York State Fair.
