The Verplanck Fire Department escorted Santa through the hamlet Saturday, handing out candy canes to youngsters and pausing for photos as sirens signaled his arrival.
The department's tree lighting is scheduled for 6:30 tonight (Dec. 8) at the firehouse (located on Eighth Street).
