Team Brittany Delivers Halloween Treats to Hospitalized Kids

A locally-formed group gave back to kids at Blythedale Children's Hospital for Halloween.

Locals gave generously this week to an effort organized by Team Brittany to bring Halloween happiness to sick children at Blythedale Children's Hospital.

Team Brittany—a group that came about to support Garrison's 24-year-old Brittany DiDonato after she was diagnosed with liver cancer more than a year ago—wanted to make Halloween this year extra special for a group of kids who wouldn't get to go trick-or-treating.

"We had been collecting items for the past month using The Quiet Man Public House in Peekskill as a drop off point," explained Brittany Hays, a friend of DiDonato, in an email to Patch. "Community members, like always, astonished us with their generosity donating more items than we could have ever imagined."

Earlier this year, Team Brittany hosted a fundraiser at the Quiet Man Public House to help offset the costs of DiDonato's medical bills.

This wee's work came about about "she wanted to give back and do something for children battling cancer or sickness," Hays explained.

Dropping off the Halloween treat bags at the Valhalla hospital, Hays said, "was a humbling experience to see the joy it brought the families that we met."
