FRC's Harvest Time Food Pantry Give Away

The Family Resource Center of Peekskill, Inc.'s Harvest Time Food Pantry Program will be having its monthly food give away to socio -disadvantaged families, elderly persons, and homeless individuals. If you are in need of emergency food assistance or know of someone in need, please stop by the Ctr. or help us get the word out.  The  not-for-profit is pleased  to announce that the employees at Aeropostale' at Jefferson Valley Mall - under the leadership of  Store Manager - Ms. Denise Zachman, contacted the agency to offer to come volunteer with the agency's pantry program once again.  The store generously donated new stuffed teddy bears to the not-for-profit's Annual Xmas Party for persons who are socio-disadvantaged 2010.   The Resource Center is an equal opportunity not-for-profit - all food and other services are given out on a first come first serve basis regardless of ethnicity, gender, disability, familal status, etc...  Additionally, in commemoration of the Agency's Founders  Birthday ~Mrs. Vera L. McCorvey (which was on 6/24), light refreshments will be served.   Although Mrs. McCorvey 's untimely passing in Sept. 2007 was a shock to her staff all all persons who worked closest with her, her legacy of providing critical outreach services to those in need in Westchester lives on.  Background facts on the not-for-profit's  Founder + CEO ~ Mrs. McCorvey are as follows:  *Retired as a minority social worker from the Hudson Valley Veterans Administration, *Was the valedictorian of her college classes undergraduate and graduate from the University of West Florida ~ Pensacola, Fl + the University of Alabama (at two predominately white schools), *Completed all of the course work at Fordham University to obtain a PH.d., *Mentored many undergraduate and grad school students in Westchester at the Resource Center, *Was a pioneer in the affordable housing field in the local area, etc....  We at the Family Resource Center love and miss our Chief (although she was a tough school teacher...we always knew her to be fair)....she would help anyone who was sincere.  We can, never will or  Ever Shall ~ say goodbye!!!
