Proceeds will benefit Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Team in Training group “Team Crabby”, a group of individuals training for the inaugural Nike Women's Marathon Half in Washington, D.C., scheduled for April 28, 2013 in honor of their coach’s husband recently diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL).

Team in Training, the world's largest endurance sports training program, has trained over a half a million runners, walkers, triathletes, cyclists and hikers and raised over $1.2 billion to fund lifesaving research. Due to the popularity of Nike Women’s Marathon and Half Marathon, held annually in San Francisco since 2004, LLS and Nike have joined forces again to create the inaugural Nike Women’s Marathon Half in Washington, D.C. as an expansion of the anticipated event.

“Team Crabby,” named after his well-known endearing quality, was organized shortly after Tom Bandehas was diagnosed with APL in the spring of 2012. Sandy (Story) Bandehas, a run coach for the Westchester/Hudson Valley chapter of Team in Training, has trained hundreds of runners over the past two years and mentored countless others over the past decade. Regarding the experience, Sandy says “Raising money for a great cause, with great friends, in honor of my husband, I’m touched. Join Us.” Comprised of 20 participants and numerous supporters, Team Crabby aims to fundraise $50,000.00 while training for the 13.1 mile race.

We have all been touched by cancer in some way or form - join us in the fight to find a cure in honor of our coach's husband, Tom Bandehas. Thank you in advance for all of your support!
