Painted Betty at The BeanRunner

Painted Betty, formed in 2009 in the Hudson Valley, buoyantly blends elements of country, jazzblues, and tango into a unique sound. A six-piece acoustic band, Betty features two female lead singers: Deb Madsen's alto twang and tough-tender songwriting lendscountry grit. Sonia Ryzy-Ryski's lush soprano flows from jazz to Spanish ballads, and her ironic songwriting brings humor. Tim Hall, guitarist and elegiac songwriter, works as a NASA scientist by day, and his brother Andrew Hall, upright bass, is a seasoned musician who has worked with the likes of Sparklehorse and the Crash Test Dummies. Jazz clarinetist David Rothenberg is internationally known for his playing with, and writing about, the natural world, and has recorded with such luminaries as Peter Gabriel. Drummer Eric Starr leads a multifaceted life as a composer, a jazz performer, and music educator. Painted Betty's debut album, "Fifty Bucks and I'll Show You," (2011) is available on iTunes.
