9th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Featuring

“I HAVE A DREAM” – THROUGH ARTISTS’ EYES

Dr. King’s dream has been interpreted many times in many ways, but never the way it will be at this Peekskill celebration.

The Preservation Company, Inc. is hosting its 9th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Dinner and Auction on January 20th, 4:00 at 2013 at Colonial Terrace in Cortlandt Manor.  Join us for this original musical tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr.and those who continue his dream.

John Ford of Ford Piano is generously organizing the live music for the event in honor of his late friend, musician Charlie Scott who shared his passion with local youths by creating opportunities for them to learn to play music. Devoted friends of Charlie Scott will be performing at this event among other talented musicians.

Peekskill’s artist community will also share their vision of Dr. King’s Dream at the event with a display of art. Sculptor Wilfredo Morel, one of Peekskill’s most gifted artists spearheaded the art project and was overcome with emotion at the generosity of his fellow artists.  So many of them are excited to participate in this event, and are performing or donating pieces of their art for auction.  Some of the pieces will be drawn from the artists existing collection, but many are being created specifically for and will be unveiled at the event.

Attendance at this year’s celebration is not only a wonderful way to honor Dr. King and help support The Preservation Company’s many wonderful programs, but it is a unique opportunity for art/music lovers, collectors and aficionados to get a taste of the amazing art and musical talent in Peekskill and its surrounding communities.

The Preservation Company’s mission is to increase access to and improve the supply of housing for low and moderate-income households and to contribute to community development and revitalization.  In addition to honoring Dr. King, several other companies who help The Preservation Company achieve their mission, and people who practice the spirit of Dr. King’s dream will be honored at the dinner.
