Documentary Film “A Place at the Table”, Discussion to be Hosted by Peekskill Area Pastors Association

On February 13, at 6:30pm, at the United Methodist Church in Peekskill, the Peekskill Area Pastors Association (PAPA), is hosting a public screening of the critically acclaimed documentary about hunger in the United States of America, A Place at the Table.Fifty million people in the U.S.—one in four children—don’t know where their next meal is coming from. The film’s directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush examine the issue of hunger in America through the lens of three people struggling with food insecurity.  A Place at the Table shows how hunger poses serious economic, social and cultural implications for our nation, and that it could be solved once and for all, if the American public decides — as they have in the past — that making healthy food available and affordable is in the best interest of us all. After the screening, there will be dessert and a post-film discussion with representatives from the Peekskill Area Pastors Association, Fred’s Pantry and County Harvest.

The event is free and open to the public in order to create awareness and involvement with the issue of hunger. The United Methodist Church is located at 1040 Main Street in Peekskill, NY.  PAPA, the Peekskill Area Pastors Association.  PAPA is an organization that is over 150 years old with roots in the abolitionist movement. Today PAPA’s members represent a wide variety of houses of worship in the Putnam and Northern Westchester area, working together in partnered services programs, interfaith worship services and in solidarity, dialog and advocacy efforts.
