Historic Archaeology in the Lower Hudson Valley:
2:00 to 3:00 pm
Professional Archaeologist Dr. Eugene Boesch will discuss some interesting
seventeenth and eighteenth century historic archaeological sites in New York
City and Westchester.
Dr. Boesch is a supervising archaeologist on the L.A.B. Lower Hudson Chap-
ter NYSAA project at the St. George’s site in Mt. Kisco and has undertaken
archaeological investigations in the Hudson Valley area for over 30 years.
Native Technologies:
1:00 to 2:00 pm; 3:00 to 4:00 pm
Barry Keegan has worked in the field of living archaeology since 1991: flint
knapping stone knives and points, demonstrating 9 ways to make friction fire,
teaching the oldest methods of survival from edible plants, tanning hides and
much more. He will demonstrate some of the technologies from a vanishing
way of life, as well as hold a workshop on flint knapping during this event.
St. George’s Site in Mt. Kisco:
1:00 to 4:00 pm
Come and find out about the fascinating history of our current excavation
project, the “St. George’s Site,” in Mt. Kisco. Its lively history includes Native
Americans, Colonial farming, the Revolutionary War, and it was the site of
2 churches. Hear about our progress on this project, and see some of the ar-
tifacts we have found. View the display boards and ask questions throughout
the event.
There will be a Book Sale; Artifact Identification; and Open Library
