Wet Weather, Snowfall on the Way for Peekskill-Cortlandt

Heavy snowfall is headed for the region Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow, freezing rain and heavy winds are in the forecast for the area Thursday night, Friday and Saturday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Cloudy skies and relatively mild temperatures on Thursday will give way to some light snow heading in the overnight. On Friday, more snow is expected to hit the area before 3pm, with freezing rain added into the mix later in the day.

The high on Friday is expected to reach the low 30s. A northeast wind in the 6 to 15 mph range, with gusts as high as 26 mph, is also expected. As much as 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation is possible.

There is a chance for more snow before noon Saturday.
