Verplanck Man Charged for Alleged Crack Cocaine Sales in Peekskill

Alberto Criado, who is already in jail for robbery charge out of Croton, was charged criminal sale of a controlled substance by Peekskill police.

A Verplanck man arrested for allegedly committing a robbery in Croton was hit with additional charges for selling Crack cocaine in the City of Peekskill.

Peekskill police issued an arrested warrant for Albert Criado, 44, of Verplanck, on May 16 for two counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, a felony. The charges were filed following a six-month investigation by the Peekskill Narcotics Division and the Westchester County Police Narcotics Unit.
 
Criado was already in Westchester County Jail at the time the warrant was issued for a criminal contempt charges that stemming from Cortlandt and a third-degree robbery charge that stemmed from an incident that took place in Croton July 2012.

In the robbery incident, police said Criado stole something from the ShopRite on South Riverside Avenue and got into scuffle with the security guard who tried to apprehend him. The scuffle turns a theft into a robbery under state law.

Croton olive arrested Criado for the robbery incident in February using DNA evidence obtained from a shirt that was ripped during the scuffle.
Criado's next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday in Croton village court.
