A Wet Morning Drive, Valentine's Day Fundraiser, and Men in Black III at the Hen Hud Library

Five things you should know for today, Jan. 31.

1.) Watch Out for Down Trees and Minor Flooding During this Morning's Commute

A high wind warning is in effect until 6 a.m. this morning and flash flood warning was in effect during the overnight. More rain is expected today, before 9 a.m, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected drop down to about 38 by 5 p.m. and a west wind is expected to blow in the 16 to 23 mile per hour range, with gusts as high as 46 mph.

The Hendrick Hudson Free Library, located on 185 Kings Ferry Rd. in  Montrose, is showing "Men in Black III" from 1:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. today as part of its matinee film series. The event is free. Call (914) 739-5654.

4.) Juneteenth Heritage Committee to Host Valentine's Day Fundraiser

Peekskill's Juneteenth Heritage Committee is hosting a Valentine's Day event on Thursday, Feb. 14 at the Harbor on Charles Point, located on 5 John Walsh Blvd. in  Peekskill. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The event, which costs $40 per person and  $75 per couple, is being held to raise money for this year's Juneteenth Celebration. 5.) Paramount Search Committee to Make Recommendations Monday

The search committee charged with finding a new management firm for the Paramount Theater of Performing Arts is scheduled to make its recommendations to the Peekskill Common Council on Feb. 4. The recommendation will be made in executive session. The names of the three firms that made proposals will be revealed on Feb. 5.
