Residents anxiously ventured outside this morning hoping to find minimal damage to personal property after Hurricane Sany blew through the region with a vengance last night.
In some flooded areas, the tide receeded and people began to assess the damage. Along King's Ferry Road in Verplanck, drivers meandered their way through boats in the roadway, floated off their supports when the Hudson River flooded local marinas.
Most areas along the Hudson River are still flooded and officisls are restricting access to many of the riverfront parks until it is safe .
Trees which had blown down remained where they fell across roadways, some taking power lines down with them. Utility crews have begun the slow task of clearing the debris and restoring power to residents.
It may take several days or longer until all power is restored and officials are urging resident to be patient and careful until all damage is cleared.
