Runners Race in Peekskill for a Good Cause[PHOTOS]

The Westchester Striders held its One Mile Invitational and the Quiet Man held its Turkey Trot along Esther Street in Peekskill Saturday.

The Westchester Striders held its One Mile Invitational Race in conjunction with the Quiet Man’s Turkey Trot in Peekskill Saturday.

The One Mile Invitational, which was held near the BeanRunner Cafe, featured two races. One race was held for participants ages 7 and under, 8-10 and 11-12. The other race featured participants 13-14; 15-18; an open race for runners 19 and over; and a Masters race for runners 50 and over.

Proceeds from the invitational benefited the Westchester Striders Track Club.

During the Turkey Trot, runners were required to race while carrying a frozen turkey. While some runners raced while carry a turkey in a backpack, others used baby carriages, tractors and any other advantage that helped them move across the finish line.
