Along a paved path that stretches 22.1 miles from Baldwin Place in Somers to Eastview in the Town of Mount Pleasant, The North County Trailway draws people who like to bicycle, jog or just walk and enjoy the outdoors. The trail is maintained by the Westchester County Parks Department following the route of the former Putnam Railroad. It connects with the Putnam County Trailway at the county line, and the South County Trailway to the south spanning a total of 36.2 miles. The trail is available for use from dawn till dusk.

This trail draws users from all over the tri-county region who want to exercise in their own way, at their own pace.

Why does Rockland lag behind? There are wonderful paths throughout the country, marvelous sections of bike paths, but very few in Rockland. Thankfully, at least something has been done in Orangetown, although the Joseph P. Clarke Trail still needs to be extended into Blauvelt!

Not to mention what could be done along the Hudson. It is a shame that even our roads are not bike friendly.

Two days a go I watched a lady jogging on the track with her loose dog. The dog wasn't even supposed to be on the track no less loose. Some kid or elderly lady is going to get bit. Loose dogs also end up in more fights with other dogs.

It seems Patch moves editors every year. Liz was here when I signed up. Then she was shortly moved…Read More to Rye and Rasheed took over. He must have been here about a year and then he left when the new format was introduced. Both times patch started cooking and then it got cut down just as new staff got their mojo going. A new editor with a new format seems like starting from scratch again. I know AOL/Patch needs to get some cash flow going quick (from what I've read) but I can't see what they are trying to do exactly by tipping the cart over and over
