Robot Competition, Birds of the Hudson, Spaghetti Dinner

Here are five things you need to know for the weekend, March 3-4.

1. Birds of the Hudson Exhibit

This Sunday, March 4, from 1 to 5 p.m. the _ will be hosting an opening for Ossining artist, Stephen Rengstorf. His work features woodcuts and watercolors of birds native to the Hudson Valley in local landscape settings. The exhibit will be showing from March 1 to March 31, open from Thursday to Sunday from 12 to 6 p.m. and by appointment.

2. Robot Building Competition Sponsored by Google

The Field Library has just announced they will be hosting Google’s international Cloud Robotics Hackathon. The two day intensive robotic invention session will bring high level tech/science geeks (mostly adult computer/tech experts, but some high school, college age people) to the library March 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and March 4 from 1 to 4 p.m.  They will work in teams to design and create robots, which are engineered to specific tasks and they will compete against the other International participants, via The Cloud.  Anyone can come in and watch their progress and see demonstrations of the final projects.  It is anticipated that some patent worthy projects will be developed during the event, according to the Field Library’s Sally Bentley.

3. Margaret Steele Book Signing

Peekskill’s magician, acupuncturist, author and Patch blogger Margaret Steele will also by at the Field Library, signing copies of her book published last year, ‘Adelaide Herrmann, Queen of Magic.’ Her presentation and book signing begins at 2 p.m. on March 3. Read about her book

4. Mardi Gras Parade Set for Saturday

The Cross Cultural Connection will hold a Mardi Gras parade as part of its celebration this Saturday, March 3. The parade will commence at 5:45 p.m. and end at 6:15 p.m. The parade will stay on the sidewalks and begin at the Gazebo at Park and North Division Streets, head east on Park Street, south through the parking lot to Brown Street, ending at the Elks Lodge. 5. Spaghetti Dinner at the Keon Center

The Rotary Community Corps of KEON will be hosting their Annual Spaghetti Dinner on tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at the KEON Center, 2 John Walsh Blvd, Peekskill. All proceeds raised this year will be presented to the KEON Center in Memory of Dennis Keon. $10 for Adults, $8 for children under 12.  Reservations suggested.
