Reader's Choice: Best Staycations

When you don't want to pay to travel, staycation is the way to go. Get some ideas on where to go on a staycation and vote in our poll.

Even if you like to travel, expensive airline tickets and the price of gas today might preclude you from taking a great trip to the Caribbean or from making a drive up to Maine this year. Luckily, we live in the Hudson Valley region, a vacation destinations for tourists, which means there are a lot of staycation activity options near by. So, which activity do you take advantage of when you staycate?

Take our poll and tell us in the comments.

Voting is open until 9 a.m. Friday. We will announce the winner at noon Friday.

  • Best Staycation activities/places:
  • Peekskill
  • Bear Mountain State Park, Harriman
  • Peekskill
  • Chuang Yen Monastery, Carmel
  • A night out for wine and music at , Peekskill
  • , Croton-on-Hudson
  • , Ossining
  • Van Cortlandt Manor, Croton-on-Hudson

Because the poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Read our Readers' Choice rules by clicking on the PDF attached to this article. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

Best place is Peekskill's Riverfront Green, home of: Peekskill Celebration's Memorial Day Carnival, the City's A Riverfront Summer Program, 4th of July Fireworks & Concert, Peekskill Celebration Weekend, IrishFestival and Road Knights Car Show. You can spend your summer at the Riverfront and experience a world of fun for the entire family.

We love the Peekskill waterfront. Our son loves running around and playing in the playground. We have enjoyed several festivals there and the people are always friendly. Plus it is walking distance from the wonderful Peekskill brewery!!
