Question of the Day: What time do you arrive for the fourth of July fireworks in Peekskill?
In Suzanne Welch's , she raises a good point - arriving early to get a good spot is part of the fourth of July fun (or frustration).
The Peekskill Fire Department is presenting a fireworks show at dusk on the fourth, folowing a 7 p.m. concert featuring The Bad Habits at
At 4 p.m. a few food vendors will be set up at Riverfront Green by the Department and the Hudson Valley Irish Festival will set up a beer garden. The fireworks are slated to begin at 9:30, according to Peekskill Fire Department Information Officer Susan Sheridan. The show usually lasts about 20 to 25 minutes.
Keep your eyes out for the firefighter boots, which will be set up to collect money to go towards next years celebration.
“If everyone puts in just one dollar that could go towards about half of our cost for next year,” Sheridan said.
The Fire Department expects about 6,000 people to attend the event, based on past years numbers.
And don't forget about the Fire Department parade, which begins at 10 a.m. and will will wind down Highland Avenue, Division Street, South Street, Hudson Avenue and end at Railroad Avenue. Following the parade there will be a laying of flowers at the World Trace Center steel at the Riverfront Green Park.
