Planning Commission Talks Methadone Clinic, Peanut Butter Recalled

Here are five things you need to know today, Oct. 10.

1.) Peekskill Planning Commission Meets Tonight
The Peekskill planning commission is scheduled to meet today, at 7:30 p.m. inside city hall. The Renaissance Projects proposal for a methadone clinic on 3 Corporate Dr. is one of the items up for discussion.

2.) Road Work on Main Street in Peekskill
The Westchester County Department of Public Works began road work on Main Street/Route 6 Tuesday night. Because of the work, there will be single lane closures and traffic delays on Main Street, from Route 9 to St. James Street. The work will take from place 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until Friday.

3.) Voter Registration Deadline is Friday
The voter registration deadline is Friday. In New York, mailed registration applications must be postmarked by Oct. 12 and received by Oct. 17 to be eligible for the Nov. 6 General Election. In person registration must be received by Oct. 12. You can download registration forms in English or Spanish from the county Board of Elections Web site. You can fill out a voter registration form in person at your local Board of Elections office: Westchester County Board of Elections, 25 Quarropas St., White Plains, NY 10601.

4.) Peanut Butter Recall Expands to More Brands
Last month's Trader Joe's peanut butter recall now includes Target, Walmart, others. The recall list includes several well-known brands and a variety of peanut butter products as well as almond butter, cashew butter, tahini, and roasted blanched peanut products. Read more about it here.

5.) Peekskill Elks Lodge Offers Dinner on Wednesdays
The Peekskill Elks Lodge, located on 1038 Brown St, Peekskill, is offering $15 dinners on Wednesday. Meals include spinach salad, fresh ham, roasted new potatoes, green beans, coffee/tea and dessert.
