Peekskill Police: Firefighter Flashed Badge, Impersonated Cop

Peekskill Police alleged that Robert Pidgeon, a volunteer firefighter with the Continental Village Fire Department, flashed his badge during a dispute at the A&P Shopping Center Monday evening.

A volunteer firefighter with Continental Village was arrested Monday after he allegedly identified himself as a police officer during a verbal dispute at the A&P Shopping Center Monday.

Peekskill police said the arrested Robert Pidgeon, 50, and charged him with criminal impersonation first-degree, a felony, first-degree harassment, a misdemeanor. Police allege that Pidgeon had gotten into a verbal argument with a bystander at the parking lot over the way a car was parked at about 6:45 p.m.

Police said Pidgeon reportedly began to yell at others in the area at which time he displayed a silver badge  and identified himself as a police officer.Police said Pidgeon had a silver badge issued by the Continental Village Fire Department at the time of his arrest.

Pidgeon was arraigned and released to reappear in court Thursday.
