Paramount Proposals, Flash Mobs and a Sandy Hook Benefit

1.) Paramount Management Candidates Present Plans in Public Work Session
The Paramount Phoenix Group, Red House Entertainment and the Tarrytown Music Hall presented their proposals for managing the Paramount Center for the Arts during Wednesday’s Peekskill Common Council work session. Get a rundown of the proposal here.

2.) “Words that Paint: The Hudson Valley School in Poetry and Prose
The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art,  located on 1701 Main St. in  Peekskill, is hosting “Words that Paint: The Hudson River School in Poetry and Prose” today at 2 p.m. The events is a collaborative art experience brought to you by HVCCA and Director Mara Mills. Writers from throughout the region were invited to visit the exhibition, and then submit short plays or poems inspired by works of art. The resulting works were juried and assembled into this theatrical performance.This is HVCCA’s fourth collaboration with Director Mara Mills following the successful “Size Matters: Image and Script” (2008), “The Form of Matter” (2009) and “The Ides of March” (2012). 3.) Flash Mob to Hit Streets of Peekskill
Today, at 4 pm at The Field Library’s Hayes Plaza (in front of the library) located at 4 Nelson Avenue in Peekskill, the community will join with women and men around the world for ONE BILLION RISING, the largest day of action in the history of V-Day, the global movement to end violence against women and girls.  In case of bad weather, the event will take place at the Youth Bureau located at 828 Main St. Learn more here.

4.) Indian Point Reactor Shutdown
Control room operators safely shut down Indian Point’s unit 2 nuclear power plant Wednesday afternoon, following indication of fluctuating water levels inside the plant’s steam generators, which occurred when two pumps that send water from a drain tank to the steam generators stopped operating. No radiation was released and there was no danger to the public or the plant’s workers, according to an Indian Point spokesman.

5.) Help 2Sandy's Benefit at the BeanRunner Cafe Sunday
Help raise funds for victims of Hurricane Sandy and the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Enjoy non-stop music from local and world renowned musicians, raffles and a silent auction. All donations to be shared equally by Sandy Hook Elementary School relief and the American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy fund. Dine at participating Westchester restaurants who will donate 20 percent of the day’s profits to the cause.  Benefit activities to be held February 17, 1-9 p.m. at the BeanRunner Café, 201 S.
