FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK
• St. Patty's Day Parades: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the heart of Peekskill with a parade on Saturday, and in Buchanan on Sunday.
Where/When: Downtown Peekskill, Peekskill; Saturday, March 12, Mass at 1:30 p.m. and parade at 3 p.m.; or Buchanan at 2 p.m. Buchanan's parade will start at the intersection of Tate Avenue and Burke Court and will continue down Tate Avenue to Westchester Avenue and end at the Veteran’s Pavilion on Westchester Avenue.
Why Go: Led by The Rev. James J. Gardiner, who is celebrating his 50th anniversary as a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement at Graymoor, will lead the Peekskill parade.
At this year's Buchanan parade the Grand Marshals are father/daughter Bill Keenan and Claire Keenan-Carey.

• Sugary Treats: Tapping trees at gives families a chance to learn how the maple syrup reaches their pancakes.
Where/When: 1600 Spring Valley Road, Ossining; Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 1 p.m.
Why Go: Naturalists will share stories and folklore about how to turn tree sap into syrup. The sweet experience is also free for members.

•On the Town: Go on the town to see On The Town at Kennedy Catholic. The classic musical is filled with songs that have become part of Americana.

Why Go: Known for putting on an entertaining show

• Harlem Magic Masters: Whenever the Harlem Magic Masters play basketball there is fun and fanfare. Fans can watch thrilling shooting from dunks to shots from all over the court.
Where/When: Mahopac High School, 421 Baldwin Place Road, Mahopac; Friday, March 11, 7 p.m.
Why Go: Thrilling basketball and a fundraiser combine for a great night of family fun.
