1) Peekskill Resident Advance in Intertnational Jazz Vocalist Competition
Peekskill resident Alexis Cole was announced as one of the five of the Sara Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition Wednesday. Cole and the other finalists will be flown to Newark, NJ to compete in a live event at the at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center on Oct. 21. The winner, who will be be announced Oct. 22, receives $5,000 and an opportunity to perform at the New Jersey Art Center in 2013.
2) Walter Panas to Induct This Year’s Hall of Fame Class
Walter Panas High School will hold the induction ceremony for it’s 2012 Hall of Fame class on Friday, Sept. 21 during it’s homecoming football game against Riverside High School. This year’s inductees are Tom Cottrell, class of 1993; Tracy Cottrell- Parchen, class of 1993; Sean Lindsay, class of 2000; and Coach Pete Kelly, class of 1998. The game starts at 7 p.m. and the ceremony will take place at halftime.
3) Kolping Hosts Harvest Craft Fair and Flea Market Saturday
Kolping-on-Hudson, located on 95 Montrose Pt. Teh playground will also be open and the will be face painting, pumpkin painting and other child friendly activities. More than 40 vendors are expected to be in attendance.
