Merry Christmas Peekskill and Cortlandt!

Who remembers WPIX's Yule Log? We do!

If you grew up in the late 1960s and 70s in any city that picked up WPIX-TV out of New York City, then you certainly remember the Yule Log.

Video of the roaring fire in the fireplace would begin airing on Christmas Eve and stay on right through Christmas Day.

According to Wikipedia, "The Yule Log was created in 1966 by Fred M. Thrower, President and CEO of WPIX, Inc."

We thought it would be fun to revive this fond memory for so many of us.

Merry Christmas from Patch!

Do you remember the Yule Log? Tell us in the comments.

Ah, yes, I certainly do remember the yule log on WPIX and fondly at that. Our family would have the station playing perpetually as we opened gifts and retold old stories. Great memory and thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas to all at The Patch ... what you do is greatly appreciated and the hard work that must go into delivering us timely and accurate news is overwhelming for this writer to even imagine! Wishing all a Happy, healthy, peaceful, and fulfilling holiday and 2013!

Oy yes I do - we did not have a fireplace and it was as close to the romance of a homey Christmas fire as we got... Plus the lovely music...Have not wanted to live without a fireplace as a result as a grown up! Merry Christmas everyone!
