Jazz, Sandy Relief and Santa Breakfast

Five things you should know for today, Dec. 13.

1.) Free Blood Pressure Screening
The Hudson Valley Hospital Center, located at 1980 Crompond Rd. in  Cortlandt Mano is offering free blood Pressure Screenings in  Dining Room B from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Call (914) 734-3244 for more information.

2.) Local Efforts to Help Hurricane Sandy Victims
A group of Lakeland Central School District teachers and staff are planning their second trip to help Hurricane Sandy victims – this time they are traveling to the Broad Channel area on Saturday, Dec. 15. This time they will be spreading some holiday cheer. If anyone is looking to help, donations are still being accepted. Items needed are bottled water, juice boxes, new unwrapped toys, and food (restaurant donations and home baked goods), wrapping paper, tape, warm clothes. Click here for more details.

5.) Jazz Night at the Quiet Man with the Andy Polay Trio Friday 

This Friday,starting at 8:30 p.m,, the Quiet Man in Peekskill will feature  a late evening Jazz and food with the Andy Polay Trio. Polay, on drums, will be joined by pianist Rahn Burton, and  guitarist, Mark Tonelli.

4. Breakfast with Santa at Peekskill Middle School Saturday

Peekskill's SEPTO is hosting a Breakfast with Santa Fundraiser this Saturday at the Peekskill Middle School from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be games and music. Every child who attends gets a gift from Santa. The event is $8 for adults, $6 for children. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Scott Camera will also be available for photos with Santa at an additional cost. If your child attends Peekskill schools, can click on the flyer attached here and fill out a ticket order to send with them to school. Otherwise, call 914-233-7789 to purchase tickets.

5.) Fundraiser/ Open House at Fat Joe’s Deli for Direct Grace Organization

Fat Joe's Deli, located on 8 John Walsh Blvd. in Peekskill, is hosting a open house/fundraiser/ on Friday, Dec. 14 for Direct Grace,  a music recording company dedicated to raising funds to help abused and exploited children across the globe. There will be reiki healing, tarot card reading, music, henna tattooing, wine tasting, food tasting and more.
