Fog Alert, Paramount Management Candidates Announced and Uriah Hill to Reopen

Five things you should know for Wednesday, Jan. 6.

1.) Watch Out for Fog and Black Ice This Morning
According to the National Weather Service, commuters should watch out for patchy fog early this morning that could reduce visibility 1 to 3 miles. Moisture from the fog could also result in patches of black ice. Drive carefully!

2.) Management Candidates for Paramount Theater in Peekskill
The City of Peekskill announced that the The Paramount Phoenix Group, Red House Entertainment and the Tarrytown Music Hall are three candidates to lease and manage the Paramount Center for the Arts. Read more here.

3.) Peekskill Schools Approve  Plan to Open the Uriah Hill School Next Year
The Peekskill school board passed a resolution calling for the reopening of the Uriah Hill Elementary School to help ease current space constraints on the district’s growing student population. The Uriah Hill school was closed in 2009 as a cost cutting measure. Read more here.

4.) Cancer Support Group to Hold Open House Thursday
Gilda's Club Westchester at HVHC offers a support group for people who have been newly diagnosed with cancer on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Cancer Center at 1978 Crompond Road, Cortlandt Manor. On Feb. 7 there will be an Open House for people interested in learning more about the group. 5.) Free Blood Pressure Screening at Hudson Valley Hospital Center
At 2 p.m. the Hudson Valley Hospital Center offers free blood pressure screenings. Details here.
