That is the coolest costume I've ever seen. I would have totally thought someone was in the pirate costume. Looks even better when it moves. Outstanding job and well deserved win!

Um... it is a store bought costume. Mermaid costume, pirate costume all store bought. Search pirate carrying a mermaid costume on the internet and you will see atleast 30 pictures of the same thing, or variations of the same. Seen it before. The boy who won the headless horseman with his head in a jar was awesome.

Chris, You are not the first one to think I bought the costume, so I won't let it offend me too much lol Did you watch my video? Even when I wore this costume out, several people asked me where I got it. People were in shock that I actually created the entire costume by hand. (For example, the Pirate costume all started with a black coat that I bought at Good Will and added some red ribbon that I found at the dollar store) Some people didn't even believe me until I took out my cell phone to share with them the pictures I took throughout the process of creating my costume. I would be more than happy to send you pictures of me making my costume, if you still don't believe me. Just post your email address. This costume took many hours of hard work to plan and put together. I cannot even put into words how proud I was to have made this costume by hand with my dad. It was so special for the both of us. I hope this helps your frustration. I would also be upset if I thought someone won such a wonderful contest by using some store bought costume, but that is absolutely not the case. I am so grateful to have won, and I really do appreciate you taking the time to read this. Take care. ~ Ashley

Ashley, Even if you hadn't made the mermaid and pirate costumes, putting them together in that way was fantastic. The fact that you made everything just increases the fantasticalness. Great job, you should be proud! Claudia
