Editor's Note: The following release was submitted by Cortlandt Supervisor Linda Puglisi and the town board.

  3. If you are in the Village of Buchanan the total dollar amount increase for the average assessed property for 22 years has been $14.09

Note:

It is the total amount paid that no matter what you say has more than doubled somehow. I know I could never sell my house for the value the town thinks it is worth and thus the school, and country make me pay on. Time to lower our assessments and then you will have real tax control.

Linda Puglisi is an example of a public servant who has always put the PUBLIC first and foremost. The residents of Cortlandt are very lucky indeed to have had her leadership over these 22 years! Its also a shame that the 'town' tax bill contains the state, county etc... taxes which subsumes the actual TOWN TAX portion. what Linda didn't tout was the new Town Hall purchased and renovated under her watch; the county takeover of a rouge town police department and hundreds of improvements throughout the vast Town of Cortlandt. Peekskill politicians AND paid administrators should be required to take a tutoral from her and stop the squabbling and put the PUBLIC FIRST; curb their appetite for outside counsels and consultants and pet projects without non-tax revenues to pay for them. you'd never see Cortlandt SUING its own Planning Board!!
