Cortlandt, Peekskill Workshops; Tailgating at the Quiet Man; Workers Needed in Cortlandt

Five things you should know for today, Jan. 7.

1.) Peekskill, Cortlandt Work Sessions Scheduled Tonight
The Peekskill Common Council is scheduled to have a work session tonight at 6:30 p.m. A copy of the meeting agenda is attached to this story. The Town of Cortlandt is also scheduled to have a work session tonight 7 p.m., inside the Nyberg Meeting Room in Cortlandt town hall, located at 1 Heady St. in Cortlandt Manor.

2.) Notre Dame-Alabama Tail-gate Party at the Quiet Man Pub
Celebrate the national college football championship between Notre Dame and Alabama tonight at the Quiet Man Public House with a tail-gate party. There will be food, a cash bar,  giant TV screens and contests. The event, which begins at 8 p.m., costs $35 and the proceeds will go toward the 2013 St. Patrick's Parade in Peekskill.

3.) Peekskill Officials To Review Proposals for Paramount
Peekskill city officials are scheduled to review proposals and speak with parties interested in managing the Paramount Theater for the Performing Arts this week. The city has received three proposals from people interested in managing the theater. Check back for more details as they become available.

4.) Laborers Needed in Cortlandt
The Town of Cortlandt Department of Environmental Services is hiring temporary laborers for a temporary four-month assignment, starting immediately. Applicants must be physically able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods of time, pass a physical agility test, have a valid New York drivers license and have a clean driver’s abstract. The position pays $ 11 and hour with no benefits. Pre-employment drug test required. Applications are available at the human resources department in town hall, located at 1 Heady Street, Cortlandt Manor. Do not call.  Town of Cortlandt residents preferred. Applications will be accepted until January 14, 2013.

5.) Ganesha Spa to Host Kundalini Meditation
The Ganesha Spa is hosting an Kundalini meditation created by enlightened master OSHO from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The meditation is designed to remove energy blocks. Ganesha Spa is located on 15 Depew Ct. in Peekskill. Call 914-906-7238 to register.
