Astorino Unveils Budget, Wake scheduled for Peekskill Police Officer

Five things you need to know for today, Nov. 15.

1.) Wake Scheduled for Peekskill Police Officer
A wake service will be held for Peekskill police Officer Hermosillo today from Thursday, from 2 p.m. to  5 p.m. at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington Street, Peekskill, NY. The number for the funeral home is (914) 737-1363.

2.) Hudson Valley Hospital Center’s Annual Wine Tasting
The Foundation of the Hudson Valley Hospital Center is hosting its annual fundraiser at the Trump National Golf Club, located on 339 Pine Rd. in Briarcliff Manor. The event, which benefits the Ashikari Breast Center, will give attendees the ability to enjoy a wide array of wines paired with dishes prepared by Hudson Valley restaurants and culinary talent while tasting world class wines from top experts and major importers.

3.)  Lane Closures on Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown Today and Friday
The New York State Department of Transportation will be conducting lane closures on the northbound Taconic State Parkway between Pines Bridge Road and Underhill Avenue today  and Friday. The lane closures will occur between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day, DOT officials said. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the work area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, 

4.) Westchester County Executive Releases Budget Plan
County Executive Rob Astorino released his proposed $1.7 billion budget for 2013. The proposal doesn’t increase the tax levy, but calls for the elimination 189 county jobs.

5.) Hen Hud Board of Education to Hold Meet & Greet
Several trustees from the Hendrick Hudson school board will be available on to meet with the public at Dunkin’ Donut, located at 13 Albany Post Road, in Buchanan, this Saturday, Nov.17, 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. The informal meet and greet will provide members of the public an opportunity to speak one-on-one with members of the Hendrick Hudson School District Board of Education.
