A Messy Commute, Parking Restrictions and Energize Croton Launches

Five things you should know for today, Jan. 16

1.) Winter Weather Advisory in Effect Until 4 P.M.
The National Weather Service has issues a winter weather advisory until 4 p.m. today. This morning’s commute calls for a wintry mix of snow and ice, along with hazardous road conditions. Check the Peekskill/Cortlandt Patch commuter map here for live traffic updates throughout the day.

2.) Winter Parking Restriction in Effect for Peekskill
Parking between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. is prohibited on any street that does not have winter/alternate side parking signage. Vehicles found in violation of this ordinance will be towed at the owner’s expense and fined $50.  Motorists are asked to cooperate to ensure that snow removal operations can be completed without hindrance from illegally parked vehicles.

3.) Cortlandt Community Center to Host Energy Savings Talk
Flo Brodley will give a short presentation about how local homeowners can take advantage of NYS incentives and income-qualified subsidies for energy efficient improvements to their homes, as well as benefits by the local Energize Bedford program, at 10:45 a.m. today inside the Cortlandt Community Center, located at 29 Westbrook Dr, Cortlandt Manor. These benefits include access to an independent Energy Coach, and application assistance. Go to www.EnergizeCortlandt.org for more information.

4.)  Launch of Energize Croton
The community is invited to the launch of Energize Croton residential energy efficiency program tonight at 7 p.m. inside Croton-on-Hudson Village Hall, located on 1 Van Wyck St.  Come find out what it means for the Croton community and your members. Hear from local leaders who have already had a comprehensive evaluation of their homes' energy use, reviewed recommended measures for improvement and others who have completed their recommended measures and are now evaluating their energy savings and comfort index. Check out the new website for the program, www.EnergizeCroton.org. Go here for additional information about tonight’s program.
