Visions for Vacancies: 2 Cortlandt Manor Buildings

Let's call this a modern spin on community planning; a digital drawing board where all ideas are on the table.

We present a vacant space or property and ask you to tell us what you think would be the best use. Forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump lot coverage rules and all the other zoning jargon that puts many people to sleep. What would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

The first installment generated dozens of comments, and the second, which focused on Lakeland Sleep Shop, generated plenty of conversation, too. Now we're hoping you'll weigh in on the two buildings that sit along the traffic circle of Jay Road, Oregon Road East, Oregon Road, Redmill Road and Westbrook Drive.

A Carvel ice cream shop is across the way, as is Sansotta Brothers Italian deli, a wine and liquor store and a dry cleaner.

So, Peekskill and Cortlandt folks, the question is: What would you like to see in those spaces?

Please leave your thoughts here.
