Peekskill's Got the Best!

Peekskill got plenty of notice in Westchester Magazine's Readers' Picks 2013.

Singles Scene (under 35) was won by the Peekskill Brewery—which got a second shout-out for its amazing new digs, a block north and a wildly different vibe with the same good food and great beer as the original.  And a second-floor gallery dining room overlooking the bar (jammed with families for Father's Day, BTW).

Gleason's was named the Best for $10 and under cocktails—the kind that don't use bargain-basement brands with weird colors. "At Gleason’s, your hard-earned Hamilton goes to carefully designed drinks that use local, small-batch-distilled spirits whipped with bitters and sodas crafted by Peekskill’s skilled barman, Jason Schuler."

The 12 Grapes's music scene was singled out by Westchester Magazine as best live music spot.

And as the popular Peekskill nightspot began to celebrate, so did its fans. The comments on the 12 Grapes Facebook page ranged from short 'n sweet—"Congratulations," said Jamie Knox—to detailed—"and I have a few hundred photos to prove it!" said Kevin Michael Winterfield.

The 12 Grapes isn't resting on its laurels. The Gil Parris Band plays June 22.
