HVCCA Hosts Reception for Peekskill Artist Club Show Sunday

"The Power of Place," a gallery featuring the works of members from the Peekskill Artists Club, will be on display through April 28.

The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art is hosting an opening reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. this Sunday for the exhibit, “The Power of Place.”

The show, which will run at the center through April 28, features the works of members from the Peekskill Artist Club. The club, which had its first meeting in May 2010, is made up of a group of emerging artists who meet up at the center for monthly meetings to collaborate and critique each other’s artwork.

Members of the club come from art programs from schools such as Yale University, the University of Chicago, SUNY Purchase, the Rhode Island School of Design and the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

While some of the artists live in Peekskill, other come from other outside communities such as New Paltz, Beacon, Rhinebeck and Connecticut.

The Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art is located at 1701 Main St. in Peekskill.
