Funky New Year’s and New Trey Anastasio Dates Announced by The Cap

The Cap announced concerts rescheduled due to Sandy and a funky New Year’s Eve bash this week.

Got no plans for New Year’s Eve? Ring in the New Year by bringing in the funk at The Capitol Theatre.

The Funky Meters and Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk have been announced as the performers for The Cap’s New Year’s Eve concert. The two New Orleans bands have funk in their blood - the Meters was formed by famous New Orleans keyboardist Art Neville, and Dumpstphunk was formed by his nephew, Ivan. The two groups are sure to get the crowd grooving to the end of 2012 and jamming to the start of 2013.

The Funky Meters are a team of New Orleans funk, blues and jazz all-stars: founding members Art Neville and George Porter Jr. on bass, with Brian Stoltz on guitar and Russell Batiste Jr. on drums. Dumpstaphunk includes founder Ivan Neville on keyboard, bassists Nick Daniels and Tony Hall, Ian Neville (Ivan’s cousin) on rhythm guitar and Nikki Glaspie on drums.

The Cap also announced the dates for the rescheduled Trey Anastasio Band this week. The Trey Anastasio Band shows originally scheduled for October 28 and 29, 2012, at The Capitol Theatre, have been rescheduled for Wed., January 23.

Fans who purchased tickets for the October Trey Anastasio Band shows, postponed by Hurricane Sandy, can use their ticket for the newly announced Jan. 23, 2013 show. Those who cannot attend the rescheduled date may seek refunds at their point of purchase.
