Festa Italiana Schedule; Mohegan Colony Festival; Stormy Weather

Five things you need to know for the weekend, Aug. 10-12.

  1. Festa Italiana

Westchester’s Largest Italian street fair kicks off at 6 p.m. today. The Opening Ceremony and includes a Boy Scout Color Guard, American and Italian National Anthems, Father Higgins - Blessing, Mayor Foster - Greeting, Italian Consulate Greeting and the presentation of “DISTINGUISHED  CITIZEN" awards.

The Mass at The Assumption Church will be held on Sunday from at noon and will be followed by the Feast of the Assumption Procession at 1 p.m.

 2.    Mohegan Colony Storytelling and Music Festival

The 12 Annual festival will be held Saturday, Aug. 11. Read the details . And check out Bryan Byrne’s video from the event last year .

 3.    Stormy Weather

The National Weather Service brings bad news for the outdoor festivals. There is a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10 a.m. that are expected to continue into this evening. Saturday has a similar forecast, with a high near 82. Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 82.

 4.     Public Hearing on Firehouse, Chicken Coops, Tattoos Monday

The City of Peekskill will hold public hearings on the central firehouse, chicken coops and tattoo zoning Monday at 7:30 p.m.
