The Chip White Quartetwith Patience Higgins (sax), Michael Chochrane (piano), and Marcus McLaurine (bass)Saturday, June 30 @ 7:30-10:30 p.m. Composer, percussionist, lyricist, and poet, Alan "Chip" White has toured the U.S., Europe, Japan, and the Caribbean, performing with The Houston Person and Etta Jones Quintet, and since 2001 with the Houston Person Quartet. He has appeared on Houston Person's albums, In a Sentimental Mood, Social Call, and To Etta With Love; Etta Jones' Easy Living and Grammy-nominated Etta Jones Sings Lady Day; and Teddy Edwards' Midnight Creeper, Ladies Man, and Smooth Sailing. His composition, Time Stood Still, is featured on Houston Person's All Soul.

Chip albums include Harlem Sunset (1994), Music and Lyrics (2005), Double Dedication (2008), More Dedications (2009) and Percussive Tributes (2011). He has also published a book of original poems, I'm Just the Drummer in the Band.

Chip has performed/recorded with Carman McCrae, Jaki Byard, John Abercrombie, Chet Baker, Claudio Roditi, Enrico Rava, Jimmy McGriff, Houston Person and Etta Jones, Irene Reid, and Savion Glover, among others.
