Songs for New Beginnings: Benefit Concert for Tornado Victims

This year may turn out to be the worst in some time for the Tornado Belt, and the parishioners at St. Mary’s Church in Mohegan Lake plan to help.

The church will host Songs for New Beginnings on Saturday, May 12 at 7:00 p.m., a fundraising event for the victims of these horrific storms.  Featured performers include Fred Gillen, Jr., whose song “This Old Car” was recently featured on NPR’s “Car Talk,” and singer-songwriter Brooke Campbell, performing songs from her new EP “The Escapist.”

All proceeds will be donated to the Episcopal Relief and Development U.S. Disaster Fund, which provides quick response and critical supplies to tornado-impacted areas in the Midwest and South.  With minimal overhead, ER&D manages to direct 92 cents of every dollar where it’s needed.
