International Poet, Laura Shore, and Local Poet Catherine Wald to Read from Recently Published Works

Meet international poet, Laura Jan Shore, as she reads from her newest collection of work, Water over Stone. Joining Laura is Mohegan Lake poet, Cathy Wald, author of Distant Burnt Out Stars.

Laura, who grew up in Tarrytown, moved to Australia to be close to her grandchildren in 1996. Her poems explore the people and landscape of both the North Coast of New South Wales, Australia and the Hudson Valley. Water over Stone, the winner of the IP PICKS Best Poetry 2011 award from Brisbane publisher, Interactive Press, has just been published in the US and will be launched in Australia in November.

Laura's YA novel, The Sacred Moon Tree, (Bradbury Press,1986), was nominated for the Washington Irving Children's Book Award, and her poetry has appeared in literary magazines and anthologies in the US, New Zealand, Italy and Australia over 30 years. Her first poetry collection, Breathworks, was published in 2002.

Laura is joined by local poet, Catherine Wald. She is celebrating her first published volume of poetry, Distant, Burned-Out Stars.

Wald's The Resilient Writer: Tales of Rejection and Triumph by 23 Top Authors (Persea Books, 2004) inspired writers to persist through the challenges of seeking publication. The book won a Best Book of The Year Award from the American Society of Journalists and Authors.
