Croton Clearwater Festival Taking Shape

Acts are lining up for Croton-on-Hudson's 2012 Clearwater Festival.

Some big musical acts are being lined up for this year's in Croton-on-Hudson. Headliners now include Ani DiFranco, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Bela Fleck, Deer Tick and Arlo Guthrie & the Guthrie Family.

The music and environmental festival will take place in the village on June 16 and 17 at Croton Point Park. The fest was started by legendary musician Pete Seger. He originally held small fundraising concerts up and down the Hudson River. In 1978 the event settled in . At that time the event was called The Great Hudson River Revival.

In 1988 the festival was forced to move because of pollution problems with a landfill at Croton Point. The event was then held at a college campus. However, in 1998 the Clearwater Festival returned to the river at Croton Point Park.
